»I am that I am«

by Christopher Kudyahakudadirwe

I may be black
I may be white
I may be chocolate
But I am a citizen
Of the world.

I may be rich
I may be poor
I may be educated
I may be illiterate
But I am a citizen
Of the world.

Call me man
Call me woman
Call me anything
Call me everything
I am a citizen
Of the world.

Seggragate me
Classify me
Alienate me
Even isolate me
But one thing remains
I am a citizen
Of the world.

I may be a communist
I may be a marxist
I may be a capitalist
Or call me a terrorist
But, listen brother,
I am a citizen
Of the world.

Shoot me
Bomb me
Repress me
Suppress me
Oppress me
Still I am a citizen
Of the world.
