»Legend Brother«
by Christopher Kudyahakudadirwe
In peace rest dear brother.
I know you didn't bother
Nor worry 'bout trivials of this earth
That haunt us till we meet our death.
Rest in peace dear legend
How your journey so came to an end?
Your absence with tears we measure
As we remember all the pleasure
That flowed 'cause you're there
Giving us your love so rare.
Have you forgotten so soon,
Times we trudged in the afternoon
To the drinking holes of the township
And share beers and gossip, all in friendship?
Did you want to forget the roaring homecoming
Full of adventure, fun and arguing
Just for the sake of it?
Oh, how I long for that bit.
Legend brother, we remember you each passing day
Wishing if wishes were horses and we'd pay
For a ride with you however short.
Your company's still sought
By all those you couldn't bid a bye.
And as the years go by
Our love for you lingers
Touching your image with imaginary fingers.
To some you may've been a nuisance,
But to me you gave confidence.
Weilding it, I find strength and courage
To face this literary rage.
Times a many, I fall into reverie
That at my heart gnaw, paining my very soul
Distorting everything and all.
Many are the memories
That fill the pages of our diaries.
So, rest in peace legend brother
Till we meet thither.
(For a dear friend who departed.)
I know you didn't bother
Nor worry 'bout trivials of this earth
That haunt us till we meet our death.
Rest in peace dear legend
