»Shipwrecked«

by Laura Arman

Locked in a cabin on a stormy sea,
captured by my own frailty,
gliding along with shattering waves,
making my mark before I hit my grave.

I'd have wash the decks and scrub the floor,
if you would have only unlocked my door,
I worshipped you with my every breath,
that surpassses all of my strength,

But I was a fool and you the king,
I bowed at your feet to make you treasure me,
alas, I should of jumped aboard,
for it would never be me who kept the score.

Sealed tight in your piercing grip,
you subject me to beatings of mentality,
you left me for hours in the endless dark,
then tormented me with your merciless heart.

Now all of my tears have been washed away,
simply a shipwreck of pure dismay,
the fighting battle has met the edge,
where the tide curbs and only the beach is left.

The journey I took on that stormy sea,
has bore me of all insanity.
I no longer speak,
I no longer breath,
for all that once entrapped me,
in love, in war, in peace,
is fleeting in the distance,
where my strength is non resistant.

Your love did imprison me,
and left me there on the wreck by the sea,
but my love for you has taken all strength,
I can no longer face the consequence.
I will no longer walk with your parade,
I will not hide behind your facade.
I was you, but now I'm me
so long, not young, but free.
