»A Letter To a Blue Rose«

by Byron Coetzee

Many times I have sat and waited
wondering what I did to save you
Many nights I prayed for forgiveness
to find a way to make you see it

But there's no purpose in my loss
There is no reason that your gone
For roses wilt and die away
but come back spring, and live again

But my blue rose just didn't wilt
it did not find the earth so cold
But even now as sunlight fades
and whispers secrets to the rain

This poet tends to roses bloomed
in gardens born of his pure words
So in this letter bound in fate
I hope someday you'll see my pain
That all I want is peace from time

and to say the words I held inside
