»The letter«

by Byron Coetzee

I've spoke of things that made my life
of times of glee and sacrifice
for all I have done, and yet to do
I hope these words will speak to you

For letters written in times like these
are reasons why this man exists
for all the time that he has spent
to try to make it for the best

He writes these words for one he cares
and wishes she would take his hand
So they may dance in moonlight glades
where shadows fall in true romance

For in her eyes, pure heaven lives
and melts my heart and soul within
For I now long to feel so lost
inside her mind, and feather touch

For I would name a star for you
and wait all night to sing to you.
For in my letter, words of truth
You hear my voice sing gently through

So in this letter, sealed within
I long to show you everything
For we who speak in gilded verse
and keep blue roses in hearts.
