»Barricade«

by Shirley Joan Von Weichardt

The world is peopled by Jekyll and Hydes
Showing one face while the other one hides.

Expose our souls? No! We would never dare
To let anyone know what's hidden there.

We would die of shame at an exposed thought,
So we go through our lives exposing nought.

An iron façade to the world is portrayed
To hide behind safely. A barricade!
