»Bars«

by Casey Samantha Boshoff

I'm trapped,
Locked in a cell,
No way to get out,
No way to excel,
All alone,
I sit on my own,
I think about you,
You and no one else,
Bars surrounding me,
Dull and gray,
No colour
Too brighten up
My day,
A ray of light
Shines through my window,
The light is bright,
Free and happy,
No cares in the world,
No one to obey,
No one to love it,
Except me...
I'm dull and boring,
Grey and hard,
Lost to many people
Can't let any in,
I love you
With all my heart,
I just can't tell you
It will make you leave,
I can't see you
They forbid it,
I miss you so much,
You're always on my mind,
I lie down and think,
All I see is your face,
You don't see it,
You don't know it,
How hard it is,
I think about you,
I know I can't have you,
You don't want me,
You chase me away,
I'm trapped,
Trapped all alone,
With no one
Except a cruel world.
To stand beside me
And watch me
Watch me fade and rot,
With only a ray of light
Free and happy,
No one to listen to,
No one to hurt it,
Except me.
