»Heart Like a Knife«

by Casey Samantha Boshoff

Your voice
Is like heaven to my ears,
Your touch
Is like peace to my body,
Your smell
Is like hope to my soul,
Yet,
You let me down again.

I believed
You could achieve your dreams,
I prayed
You got all the big breaks,
I loved
You with all my heart,
Yet
You let me down again.

I proved
You had what it took,
I gave
You all I had to give,
I asked
You for nothing in return,
Yet,
You let me down again.

They warned
Me not to fall,
They picked
Me up when I did,
They loved
Me even more,
Yet
You let me down again.

You feel
Not a single emotion for me,
You love
Not a single thing about me,
You cried
Not a single tear for me,
Yet I let
You get me down again and again.
