»The Cannons Are Still Hot«

by Casey Samantha Boshoff

I sat there,
With tears in my eyes,
Clearly knowing the truth,
To all the lies.

Everything's broken,
Demolished and destroyed,
The buildings are smoking,
And the people are annoyed.

Hearts are breaking,
Tears are running,
People are aching,
And people are dying.

Still to this day,
The guns are being shot,
And to our dismay,
The cannons are still hot.
