»The Man I Fell For«

by Casey Samantha Boshoff

With heartless eyes he loved me,
With hands gentle to the touch,
With a smile to brighten my day,
With a hug to heal my broken heart,
Cold and hard inside,
He loved me on the outside.

To you I gave my heart,
And took a chance,
To you I opened up,
And fell for a man,
To you I was a nice affair,
And now I live with regret.

From loving and caring,
To mean and hurtful,
From clean and sober,
To drugged and high,
From a responsible and ambitious man,
You became a reckless dropout.

I finally found a man,
Worth fighting for,
I finally found a man,
Worth risking it all,
I finally found a man,
Who no longer exists...
