»my pop«
my pop is a master builder
he is the greatest
he builds all the strong structures
even the latest.
he works all day
thinks all night
to get ready for the next day
at morning's first light.
my uncle helps him
as much as he can
but he can never keep up
with that hard working man.
when it's time to pack up
he never wants his work to stop
but there is always tomorrow we tell him
there is always work to be done for my pop.
my pop likes to relax
when he is not on the work site
he lays down on weekends and sleeps
all through the night.
at the end of the day
he looks down with fame
and says to me five words
tomorrow will be the same.
he is the greatest
he builds all the strong structures
even the latest.
he works all day
thinks all night
to get ready for the next day
at morning's first light.
my uncle helps him
as much as he can
but he can never keep up
with that hard working man.
when it's time to pack up
he never wants his work to stop
but there is always tomorrow we tell him
there is always work to be done for my pop.
my pop likes to relax
when he is not on the work site
he lays down on weekends and sleeps
all through the night.
at the end of the day
he looks down with fame
and says to me five words
tomorrow will be the same.

Hettie Van Zyl: "Yes so many times fathers dont realize what kind of persons they are in the eyes of their children by their Acts. Through your poem Ican see the respect you have for your father .What a good example. Thank you."
