»Maybe you never existed«

by Happy Mhlongo

Looking at the work done
Staring from the king of sonnet
Maybe you never existed.
All the poems was just a story
And the name was just made up
Why you lived at the 18th?
Maybe it was written by someone to motivate us

Oh, if you were that good... tell us:
How you made it
I mean how you got to the top
Because even us all we have wrote and published
But still no party for us to say for the good job well done
Maybe you never lived

But how those books, poems were written
And the picture we see and name we read
How they took it and who knows you face to face.
Where is your wife and children and your manager.
Shakespeare we worship you.

You're the greatest writer of all times
The master of sonnet and love poems, stories and novels
Who are we to follow you patch.
At first you were a dreamer like us
You were not good like us
But when opportunity came, you explored it
And broke a record, made it to the top

Did you really live Mr. William?
Did you really write that part?
And existed in the life they claimed you did?
Where is your will, William?

We still see the greatest work and we wanna achieve it...

  •  Christopher Kudyahakudadirwe: "Oh, yes Happy, Shakespeare lived just like you and me. Your peom raises a lot of questions about the way we are writing these days and the hunger that the publishers have come to nurture when it comes to publishing books. Then, during the times of Shakespeare it was not like today were we have pirates who shark on other people's work without giving acknowledgement whatsoever. I like your poem. But I do doubt whether this great writer did novels at all. Keep the pen happy, Happy!"
