»My endless battle«

by Melissa Petersen

When you have gone,
My days will vanish like smoke,
My emotions will soak,
Soak into this heart of mine,
Which has grown empty with these cries?

When you have gone,
No nectar will compare to your sweet kisses,
No tightly bolted door,
Would secure me as your touch would.

I'd lie awake with timeless memories running wild,
And as I fall asleep,
I'd hold my pillow close to my bosom,
And wish it were you, I was embracing.

And as endless tears rolled down my flushed cheeks,
And countless thoughts of despair
Controlled my mind, my heart and soul,
I can truly say
My days will be like the evening shadow,
Once you have gone.
