»something about the first rose«

by Casey Samantha Boshoff

There is something about
A comforting hug and a tissue at a funeral
That brings contentment to a devastated soul
That brings contentment to a plight when sadness, pain and death prevail

There is something about
The fear of a black thunderstorm
That brings knowledge of the peace to come
That brings knowledge of the peace unable to be felt during the rain

There is something about
The way the silver lining glitters
That brings a new light to gray clouds
That brings a candle of new light into my firey darkness

There is something about
The way a fire burns and destroys
That brings patience for new grass
That brings patience for positive consequences in burning dimensions

There is something about
The way a cigarette burns
That brings security to my nerves
That brings security of a better outcome to a stressful situation

There is something about
The dead grass in winter
That brings hope of new life
That brings hope of a better situations and smiles to replace tears

There is something about
The first rose to bloom in spring
That brings the happiness that it's over
That brings the happiness that blooms after a dark, cold and painful winter
