»Nightfall«

by Larry Lenwell

These devils and demons that rush through my brain
Night after night, they come again and again
I try to erase them and still they come in the night
They chase me, they haunt me and give me such a fright

In the mornings still sleepy, my head aching all over
I wish for once in my dreams, I were laying in clover
In a meadow of flowers so peaceful and calm
Instead of feeling like I have been hit by a bomb

For many years I have felt so sad and so lonely
And when I turn around and look, the blame is mine only
Perhaps when I sleep tonight, my dreams will be lighter
Because if they are not, the Angel of Death, I might invite her
