»My Wish«

by Larry Lenwell

Has it been a week or a month, I can't remember
I do not know if it is October or November
The days they come and the weeks they go, the months are never ending
The time I spend inside my mind continues my pretending

I know I'm right but think I'm wrong to ever start life changing
Until I stop and call it quits my habit I am always arranging
My selfish ways and drunken days have always been my strong suit
And there were times I'm here to say I ended at a house of ill repute

But stop I won't I know myself, it will take a disaster
Since I was young and growing up, the drugs and booze was master
I need to change I really do in order to recover
My hidden thoughts and hopes got lost beneath the grey cloud cover

I will survive, I will get by and within a year be stronger
And through the grace of God I pray, the booze will be no longer
