»Her Voice«

by Larry Lenwell

I hear her at night, she calls my name, when I am trying to sleep
Her voice so calm, so clear, so crisp, it runs through my mind so deep
I've heard her before so many times, but never did I listen
Now it seems I hear every word, as my eyes start to glisten

Come with me she asks so soft, let me take you there
We'll go away this night right now and you'll feel like you're walking on air
She reaches out, I take her hand and then the journey begins
At first so far and now so near, the sounds of harps and violins

I forgot to ask your name this night, as I am almost out of breath
She says I thought you knew before we left, I am your angel of death
