»All About the Honey«

by Esther Odendaal

If I were a flower
And you a buzzing bee
You'd stop a little while
Drink deeply from what's free

You'd fly away again
With nectar that you sought
You'd take it to the hive
Just like a good bee ought

Queen Bee would welcome you
Be pleased with what you brought
There would be more honey
Your effort not for naught

She'd never need to know
Exactly where you'd been
So glad that you were back
With what you're made to glean

We would know the sweetness
Our time together brought
We'd never question why
Give it another thought

We would not see the wrong
It's nature's way, you see -
Nectar for the honey,
The flower for the bee.

  •  Tiema Muindi: "brilliant piece"
  •  Mary: "I love your clever way of writing beautifully done"
  •  Ryan Gordon Penn: "I like this poem a lot. So much hidden meaning. We ought to take heed of what you say. Lets enjoy people for what they bring to your life right now, instead of trying to dissect them and see just where they came from. Live in the now! Sweet poem."
