»I'm Remembering«

by Alexis Mabotho Rantloane

I remember when we had just met
I was so confident you were so charming and well kept
You talked the talk
And walked the walk

From the beginning you were honest and true
And I just fell in love with the idea of you.
I'm remembering that time, that moment, that feeling

I remember when we were together
Snuggling the whole weekend through the raining weather
We rented movies and got junk food
I kept wondering if you would get bored but you kept in a good mood
That was a great weekend, we even misplaced the dvd's at the end.
I'm remembering that time those moments that day

I remember when I wanted to surprise you
So I went and got u a towel embroiled with your name in blue
I thought you would have loved it
Yet you just said thank you and smiled a bit
I thought you would have understood the significance of it all
Maybe I was being silly to think you would be excited after all
But that hurt, cause it seemed not to be a big deal for you
And I regretted the effort and running around I had to do.
I remember that time, that moment, that day, that feeling.

I remember when I tried to tell you how I was feeling
What was on mind and all the things I was thinking
And you turned and become so cold
And you walked away from me, and hit the road
I felt like I had done something wrong to make you so mean
And maybe I maybe I was doing something wrong that I had to seen
I called, I smsed, I emailed
you swore and just shouted.
I'm remembering that time, those moments, those days.

I remember when I got you a watch for Christmas
Even though we were not together anymore, I had promised to get you this.
I told you I got you the watch
Then you became so nice and kept in touch
You came to get your gift that evening
And when you left your attitude so demeaning.
I'm remembering that time, that moment, that day.

I remember all the things today
It has been a while since the end of our days
To think I actually wanted you to come back to me
And we would fix things and go back to what used to be
What in the world was I dreaming?
When were so wrong and negative to my whole being
I'm thankful that I'm remembering those times, those moments, those days.
