»The Way«

by Christopher Kudyahakudadirwe

You the seers of the way
Behold the wreckage of our people.
The hearers of the word
Hearken the wails of our people -
Of course, self-inflicted.
You imaginers of wierd ideas
Look, like a snake beheaded,
Our people wriggle in ignorance.
Where are the rememberers of the way?
Come communicate with us,
We're a people rushing deathwards
Mummified in our ignominious ignorance,
Stagnated in our uncertainty
Of whom we are & what we are.
Utterers of the word
Make us hearers of the message
And seekers of the way – the way.
Lead us through this darkness
Of our inexorable ignorance.
