Other poems by Happy Mhlongo:
»Who am I?«
Through the holy water flattering in the desert
And the lions that eat green leaves and dessert
Who am I to this world?
That shows no shame, death only
Who am I to this land?
That provides nothing but sorrow, sore and onions in eyes
Where shall I hide?
When my brothers kill us for money
Which orphan shall I embrace?
Because there are too many on the pavement
And which love must I offer you?
Because the love I have it's forever lasting,
And does not deserve anyone except me.
Who am I to love you?
With the scars on my frown face
That blackness I got all over me
Same say it represents me
And some say it represents me as a true African.
And I've never done the same thing perfectly before.
Who am I to give you my love?
You're better than me
I'm from rural, poverty where there is no future
You're more beautiful than me, and got nothing in common.
I'm Mr. Nothing
Who forces to live a better life.
I'm Mr. Stupid
Who sees everything as change?
I'm not naughty
I just strive for a better life, future.
Who am I to be in this strange world
I deserve nothing but death.
And the lions that eat green leaves and dessert
Who am I to this world?
That shows no shame, death only
Who am I to this land?
That provides nothing but sorrow, sore and onions in eyes
