»Madness of a sane man«

by Berto Kamp

On my knees
Like a mad man grabbling for fleas
Twitching in every way
Looking at the sky as if to say
Where am I today
Yesterday I was far away
Last week I was somewhere else
Was it then that I was in doubt?
Years ago I used to work
Last my marbles and now nothing hurts
Family, who are they
I think they left me
Yes they did run away
Being alone is not so bad
However even better is to be mad!
People pass and stare
My look I give back is a stupid glare
Why is it they glance at me?
I will never know
I am sane as mad as it may seem
That is what I do believe
