»Falling uncontrollably«

by Laura Arman

You cannot predict when you will fall,
If the mountains move or the floor shakes,
Should the heavens open,
Or the earth quake.
You may be able to foresee it all,
But you can never envisage when you will fall.

Falling uncontrollably

You cannot prevent a trip and tumble,
Tug on a rope to pull yourself up,
Hang on a parachute to keep yourself afloat,
Sink the anchor with the boat,
You may be able to hold yourself up,
But you can never preclude a fall that's struck.

Falling uncontrollably

And once you've fallen there's no way up,
You can toss and turn in turmoil,
Or close yourself off to the world,
You can tell yourself its not happening,
You may be able to make-believe you didn't fall,
But behind closed doors it's the be and end all.

Of when you fall in love.
