»Omie 8th of May«

by Berto Kamp

Omie8 th Of May
8th of May is when we did say
Goodbye I kissed you as I did cry
You went to sleep
I did weep
It was inevitable that it would happen some day
But now it seems as if you have left again
2 December 09 is this painful day
I received your money and Omie what can I say
It seems like finality in some way
I still cannot let go, would that be a shame
Take the money give you back again
All I want is to hold and love you even more I do say
Sad is it not that when you were there
I seemed to forget your presence, was that unfair?
Never tended to all your needs
Now that you have gone, forgive me I do plead
You were and are so special to me
Why it is my sister could never believe
That yes, you did care
You spoke about her as if she was never there
When I did touch your graceful face
You would pull back in fright and then we would embrace
Blind as you were you always could see the good in some ones voice in a special way
Omie I had to say, I miss you each and every day
I will never forget you as you live in me even when I do pray
Sleep tight and remember those special nights
That we could talk and say
Just about anything that was in our way
Sorry I could not tell you about that certain day
Love you Omie
