»Shades«
by Mary Kettle
I did not know
but now I do
so many shades
of gray inside you
Some so dark
so hard to penetrate
Others are lighter
but still there is hate
I try so hard to see
a clear side of you
A side that lets some
kind of light to come through
but no it is not to be
a sadness still lingers
for all to see.
I pray that someday
the grays will fade away
leaving a rainbow of color
in their place.
Until that day
these grays will do
no matter the color
I will always love you.
but now I do
so many shades
of gray inside you
Some so dark
so hard to penetrate
Others are lighter
but still there is hate
I try so hard to see
a clear side of you
A side that lets some
kind of light to come through
but no it is not to be
a sadness still lingers
for all to see.
I pray that someday
the grays will fade away
leaving a rainbow of color
in their place.
Until that day
these grays will do
no matter the color
I will always love you.

Ashok Kumar Madhunlall: "It is amazing, isn't it Mary, that we are given the gift of life lavished by symphony of colour but we chose to be morose and drab? How ironic that those who have this greyness over them - through no choice of their own - desire a burst of colour, a change of life."
