»The Valley«

by Judy Mathekga

Looking out at the valley of old
Masking yourself with the thought of laughter
You marvel at how all of these creatures exist
In such a valley of unnamed mysteries

It is not a tale my old friend
The valley does really exist
Such a powerful hum that sounds
In mountains and rivers far beyond

You hear it and you listen
To what it is that it commands
Farewell my old friend it says
The time has come, it's here

You hear the low humming sounds
You hear the budding sounds of trees
You then know that it has begun
Time to go to the fabled lands

The time is here now old friend
The valley has begun its call
