»background colors«
pleasant it's not, I should know
on your knees, facing only yourself
knowing the reflection,
the mirror always stares back
edged in red hurt
when you dare to explore excuses
red hurt always seep through
justified in focusing
edged in background colors
reflecting on broken promises
green, bright yellow they remain
too hurtful to confront
penetrating at the reflection provides shelter
sheltering away from confrontation
excuses we make to ourselves
custodians of whom?
on your knees, facing only yourself
knowing the reflection,
the mirror always stares back
edged in red hurt
when you dare to explore excuses
red hurt always seep through
justified in focusing
edged in background colors
reflecting on broken promises
green, bright yellow they remain
too hurtful to confront
penetrating at the reflection provides shelter
sheltering away from confrontation
excuses we make to ourselves
custodians of whom?
