»Temptation«

by Marcia Nonkululeko Tladi

It nibbles at my ear lobes
And whispers sweet nothings
To the tone of promises
Its tact is composed
Nothing hurried about it
Take your time
It seems to say
Take your time but
Show some urgency
It may not be there forever
You know
Someone else will take it
It says to me

It pacifies my lips
Soft sucking
Never fulsome
Tell me when you want me stop
It says to me
But I?m uncertain
Though not far at all from
Giving in
To the lushness
Of its touch
Voluptuously sensual
In its strokes

I lie in bed with temptation
Uncomfortably close to it
This time
My inhibitions fast escaping me
Leaving me alone
With this devil of a feeling
That lures me so cleverly
In the darkness
Further into the dark

It lures me so cleverly
Until someone hits the light switch
