Other poems by Marcia Nonkululeko Tladi:
»Were the world mine to change«
Were the world mine
To shape
I would mould every man alike
For a moment?s peace
I would
Were the earth mine
To rotate
I would halt it at the axis
To dispel the dizziness
That comes with
The speed of rats racing
I would break the sun in two
And shine it all spheres
I would shatter the moon
And make it into little stars
And speckle the skies by day
To keep the dark away
For a moment?s peace
I would bathe man?s heart in milk
To neutralise the hatred
The jealousy
I swear I would
Were the world mine
To shape
To shape
I would mould every man alike
For a moment?s peace
I would
Were the earth mine
To rotate
I would halt it at the axis
To dispel the dizziness
That comes with
The speed of rats racing
I would break the sun in two
And shine it all spheres
I would shatter the moon
And make it into little stars
And speckle the skies by day
To keep the dark away
For a moment?s peace
I would bathe man?s heart in milk
To neutralise the hatred
The jealousy
I swear I would
Were the world mine
To shape
