»word-war II«

by Mojalefa Papo

all the words then,
in one fell swoop,
adjourned at old diction-
Harry?s wish
the verbs did, the nouns
called what the adjectives
described would
be a momentous occasion
rumours spread that a
poem was on the cards (an
ode or sonnet,
an integral part
of a play perhaps) paper was
stacked with youngsters
being shipped off to warring
ink blasts
but o,-
it was a massacre,
the verbs stuttered, the proper
nouns slurred
imagination?s menopause defied
the power of
verb.

we hid behind margins
(punctuated silence
as daggers) watched
ellipsis dots, hyphens
(comma) dot dots all scattered? ? ?
