»how loosely...«

by Mojalefa Papo

how loosely we throw
the word 'love'
around,
like obscene boomerangs
that are often
lost unfound

we've gone to
extents
of pelting our
foes with
poisonous arrows from
loving bows

my God! we brandish
the word from
pulpits and pillows, when
asking the
Lord to save us, when asking
illicit favours,

from the sinless son
He gave us
love flows
in infinite streams

it finds no home
in our hearts, only
a prison in
our schemes...
