»City of God«
by Abdul Milazi
In the city of gold where money is God
Prayers come at a cost
In the Godforsaken streets
Girls come easy and drugs come cheap
In the city of gold where money is God
We drive big cars we cannot afford
And everyone has a drug dealer on speed dial
Wealth has brought an unusual insensitivity to pain
And the meek suffer still with a unique anguish
In the city of gold where money is God
The beauty of the land is marked by poverty
And fear-filled mysticism buried in unmarked graves
We drink all day just because we can
Trade our souls for fortune and fame
And call each other names just to hang out with people with names
In the city of gold where money is God
We all want to live in hilltop houses
And get young girls to blow our money for us
We buy sex off the streets to avoid cheating on our wives
And give our children obscene pocket money to pay off our guilt
In the city of gold where money is God
You can get killed for a red cent
With an expensive bullet from a cheap gun
Sometimes just for fun
In the city of gold where money is God
There is no God
Prayers come at a cost
In the Godforsaken streets
Girls come easy and drugs come cheap
In the city of gold where money is God
We drive big cars we cannot afford
And everyone has a drug dealer on speed dial
Wealth has brought an unusual insensitivity to pain
And the meek suffer still with a unique anguish
In the city of gold where money is God
The beauty of the land is marked by poverty

Omar Refaat: "This is a great poem for sure, truly reflective of the decadence of humanity"
