»Pretending«

by Heather Keogh

Two many times I've seen you pretending
Keep me here like I'm Forgetting.
You knock me down while you're still blaming.
I hide from my world, but you're still standing.
Drift to you, in waters landing.
As everything we know keeps fading.
Truth is I'm done pretending.

I know in you're eyes I will never have enough to give,
Pushing me so far, to a place where nothing ever has a chance to live.

Mistakes have been made
Everything will change
but love remains the same

I have to find a place where I can escape
Somewhere where the faces seem a blur
And nothing is ever the same.

So much more to say,
but my colour shade turns to gray.
Don't think you can trick me out,
I shall overcome
It's all left still to play

We, we could have had it all
Could have been great,
Instead we're overdue.

Half the time this world is ending
Out of time, I'm done defending.
You and I are done pretending.
