»of parting hearts«

(by Rantikwane Legwale)

Amidst the laughter and joy of life's merriments,
Amidst the tears and sorrows soaked within us,
Comes the ties that bind us in love movements,
Comes the bonds that unite companionship in us.

These fleeting hours chime away, inviting our hurt,
These moments open rivers of aching hearts,
How we wish we could turn back the clock of hurt!
How we wish time could stand still to comfort our hearts!

Life must needs be, go on albeit our sadness,
Life cycles must turn around for a new tomorrow,
Our togetherness, our fellowship will break into sadness,
Our lasting sad sorrow is our parting in the 'morrow.

"Parting is such sweet sorrow", a soul once said,
"Sweet" since someday soon we should meet again,
"Sorrow" since leaving you leaves us so sad.
Leaving you is our loss, hoping to meet you our gain.
