»The other woman«

by Helen Reynolds

Sometime I keep thinking
Of the other woman
It is hard to forget

I keep on asking myself
Why would he still want me now
Why would he still want me to stay
After all he was looking – wanting more

Don't fool yourself
Your are not what he wants
Can't you see
You're not what he desires
So he was looking
Saying I was only curios

But all the lengthy e-mails
All the correspondence
All he said to her
That all keeps coming back

Yes I have forgiven him
But it is hard to forget

If only he can give me a part of that dedication
He gave to her
Making the time, writing his thoughts,
Sharing his being

Will I every fully feel loved by this man again
Or was it only youthfull passion drawn by exploration
for him in the start

Was I ever really the one for him
Maybe I was
But with life and all its challenges and ups and downs
Am I still that one, I don't think, so I don't know.
