»Moment of weakness«

by Michael S. Hofer

It's money that matters
When I walk these streets of old
Money matters when we're growing old
Many times these stories have been told

And still we face it
any time
any place
in letters typed bold so
anyone can see it better –
It's money that matters

I built this garden around us
Am watering these plants to grow
I gave new life with new hope
Accompany my children until they go

Money's all that matters to them
While they are all that matters to me
Just let it be, play the game
It's always been the same
I'll always stay free

In a moment of weakness
loneliness, desperation
It all comes back to me
And I see that
It's money that matters
