»Love, My Friends (an English sonnet)«

by Christopher Kudyahakudadirwe

To all friends to me so dear
Love is but what I can give,
And give I must without a tear
As life we must all live;
Then can I life with you celebrate
Reflecting upon the days gone by;
And this we must do to liberate
Our conscience from the cloudy sky
Of our barren relationships;
Then, can we face this sterile world
With all the unrelenting hardships
Which tend to make us bold-
But, if my friends you are not
You stand to lose a lot.

I am surprised thatLarry Rodgers (student) has failed to recognise what a sonnet is. I wonder whether it's mathematical inability or poetic ignorance. Keep up the good work Chris."
  •  Larry Rogers High School Student: "This is not an english sonnet because an english sonnet has fourteen lines"
  •  Hettie Van Zyl: "you can put feeling into words thanks for a good poem"
