»Mother Africa«
by Christopher Kudyahakudadirwe
Arise, Africa arise!
Shine like the rising sun
Darkness has been vanguished
By your sons and daughters-
The quick and the late.
Arise, Africa arise!
Shake off shackles of ignorance
Africa, Mother Africa!
Shoo away tribalism and regionalism
Africa, My Africa!
Resist racism and irrationalism
Africa, Mother Africa!
Dwell on demands of democracy
And rise and shine
Africa, My Africa!
Arise, Africa arise!
You, the cradle of humanity
Rise and conquer neo-colonialism
You, the seedbed of civilisation;
Remember Timbuktu and Dzimbahwe
The pyramids and Carthage.
Arise, Africa arise!
Africa, Mother Africa!
Your resources are a source of envy
Mother Africa!
When all've exhausted theirs.
Arise, Mother Africa arise!
You, the jewel on the world's ear
Shine like the rising sun
Africa, Mother Africa!
Shine like the rising sun
Darkness has been vanguished
By your sons and daughters-
The quick and the late.
Arise, Africa arise!
Shake off shackles of ignorance
Africa, Mother Africa!
Shoo away tribalism and regionalism
Africa, My Africa!
Resist racism and irrationalism
Africa, Mother Africa!
Dwell on demands of democracy
And rise and shine
Africa, My Africa!
Arise, Africa arise!
You, the cradle of humanity
Rise and conquer neo-colonialism
You, the seedbed of civilisation;
Remember Timbuktu and Dzimbahwe
The pyramids and Carthage.
Arise, Africa arise!
Africa, Mother Africa!
Your resources are a source of envy
Mother Africa!
When all've exhausted theirs.
Arise, Mother Africa arise!
You, the jewel on the world's ear
Shine like the rising sun
Africa, Mother Africa!
