»Scar Face«

by Laetitia Smith

Scar face! Scar face!
The mocker sings;
Subconsciously my hand
Moves to my face,
And covers my skin.

Scar face! Scar face!
More mockers shout.
I had just been told
I'm beautiful
And this triggers my doubt.

Scar face! Scar face!
I want to stop the screams.
Each word they shout,
Feeds my insecurities.

Still Scar face! Scar face!
No matter where I go.
The mockers song follows,
So that the truth may be known.

Still Scare face! Scar face!
Though their lips are silent,
Even unfamiliar eyes,
Shout Scar face!
Behind them.
