»Love«

by Mamello Monageng

the one story of our lives
Boy, girl, meets
Girl loses boy, boy loses girl
But it's seldom happily ever after
And yet the only teaching we get is happily ever after

at a point when it doesn't work out,
we tend to believe it was someone's fault
When it works out whose fault is it-
could it be, it just happens
And just maybe, we can blame it on the stars

Its true, love is a wonderfully, amazing thing when you have it
Equally, painfully awful when you don't have it
It's supposed to be two people feeling the same
And yet it is two people striving to feel the same
And yet, one leaves the other behind-
still stuck in the loving
When they moved on to just caring

How is it that one can love so completely –
hopelessly fall in love for someone
When the other has no feeling whatsoever towards that love
Can it still be called love when it cannot be reciprocated?
Is it not our strive for perfection.

Will you let me love you
