(homage to Bob Dylan's "Don't think twice, it's all right")

In the morning, you said we'd have to forget it.
I thought your repentance did you credit
but our sin felt so good, I couldn't regret it.
Some things we never get to say.

When, later, you'd bring your wife over and flirt
It felt like you dragging my face in the dirt.
I wanted to tell you how much it hurt
but some things we never get to say.

You lost my respect when you broke the taboo
and whispered you still felt a flutter or two.
Still, I nearly admitted I ached for you too.
Some things we never get to say.

You said we were on the never-never.
You clearly thought you were being clever.
I wanted to scream that I'd hate you forever
but some things we never get to say.
