skyscrapers rise
in gigantic prowess
in celebration of
the ugliness of civilization.

street lamps glare down
with unseeing gaze.
the tenth floor
basked in absolute protection.

spiders shuffle
down dark lanes
and snap out lives.

Police will come in the morning.

  •  Christopher Kudyahakudadirwe: "What a sketchy picture you have drawn of this city of gold. It makes the filling in of the flesh very interesting and scary to the inhabitants of this city. I like it!"
  •  steven: "Dark filled with truth of the crime in this country"
  •  Thembinkosi: "The poet is puzzled and somewhat dismayed by the uncivilising nature of civilisation. Every adult becomes a child whose inquisitive, interrogative prowess breeds only confusion. More questions no answers to crimes aganist African humanity"
