»Home Town Blues«

by Andreas Buchholz

Well, I wish I could be beneath my home town sky,
Well, I wish I could be beneath my home town sky.
Well, I'm looking for the moon in this city that don't sleep,
When I see those neon lights instead, feel the urge to weep,
And I long for my home in whichever bed I lie.

Well, I wish I was there to watch the ol' sun rise,
Well, I wish I was there to watch the ol' sun rise.
Well, it's early in the morn', and I'm walking through the park,
Yeah, there's no ray from the sun even breaking through the dark.
I got rain in my hair and teardrops they fill my eyes.

Well, I wish I could hear my home town's lonesome tune,
Well, I wish I could hear my home town's lonesome tune.
Well, I'm list'ning to the song of pure silence in my mind,
But these thund'ring diesels leave my sweet melody behind,
While my home town bird's humming late in the afternoon.

Well, some day I'll go back to my own true home town,
Well, some day I'll go back to my own true home town.
Oh, I hope you'll be with me in this kingdom of the light,
Where the stars of solitude keep on shinin' in their height.
Sure the king of this empire still wears his golden crown.
