»Praise Song to the Creator«

by Dilindile William Maphosa

You have laid the foundations of earth
and the boundless realms of heavens above
the stars of the firmament shine and sing in mirth
as You hold them firm and fix their orbits

The heights of the highest of hills
the depths of the deepest of seas
and the width and the breadth of the earth
they all were fashioned by Your hand

The birds that fly through the open skies
and the mammals that frolic upon the face of the land
the sun by day and the moon by night
they shower their lights for Your glory to be held

The rain drenches the parched earth and moisten the soil
and contentment ebbs and flows to mend a broken soul
a thankful heart is awakened to sing melodies so divine
heavenly melodies only made by an almighty mind

Your vessels of honour are numerous as the sea sand
You know each by name and every piece of hair
You determine their beginning and have their ending set
their coming and going is a sacred story itself

This is a story told through ageless generations
as the whole creation groans and waits in silent patience
for the appointed time and divine intervention

But still: You are faithful and merciful, glorious and gracious
Jesus! Never shall there be a name so precious
