»Our birthdays«

by Morula Wa Kutukgolo

Thank God for our birthdays!
Our birthdays are special,
and have power to bring us close together.
Tomorrow being my son's bithday
I am travelling by taxi
from city to city;
With my bag full of gifts and sweets.
I can't wait to see my son,
To give him a kiss
and sing him "Happy birthday".
A song we normally sing
At my sister's place,
Where we often gather for birthdays.
where we often sing and dance,
Cook good food and ofcourse eat.
Where we often cry tears of joy
and of nerves.
As we speak from our hearts.
Thank God for my sister,
For all of my family and friends.
Thank God for our birthdays.
Our birthdays have power,
To bring us close together.
