I – a dot on Africa's edge
Who has never seen the ocean's rim
Never seen the island's seam
Nor tasted the sea brine;
I who have never seen dolphins spinning
Nor sharks shoals strutting the waterline-
Has in disbelief learnt of a whale that rescue a drowning refugee
A drowning full grown up man-
Who in the sea wave's slipstream was sifted, jettisoned
From a torpedoing boat-
Tossed in the oceanic black currents-
Tossed towards the sea nymph,
And the grotto of life-
But a whale, with Jonah's experience scurried-
An ocean beast with a human heart,
Caught him by the shoulder threw him to the sea shore-
Like a bag of eggs.
Who has never seen the ocean's rim
Never seen the island's seam
Nor tasted the sea brine;
I who have never seen dolphins spinning
Nor sharks shoals strutting the waterline-
Has in disbelief learnt of a whale that rescue a drowning refugee
A drowning full grown up man-
Who in the sea wave's slipstream was sifted, jettisoned
From a torpedoing boat-
Tossed in the oceanic black currents-
Tossed towards the sea nymph,
And the grotto of life-
But a whale, with Jonah's experience scurried-
An ocean beast with a human heart,
Caught him by the shoulder threw him to the sea shore-
Like a bag of eggs.
