Writer's Profile: Abdul Milazi

Biography Abdul Milazi is a multi-award-winning poet, journalist and author. His poetry awards include the Editor's Choice Award in 2002 and 2005, Silver Bowl Award 2004, Crystal Award 2005 from the Michigan-based International Society of Poets. He is also a poet fellow of Noble House of London, one of the world's leading literary publishers. His poems appear in a number of international and South African anthologies including The International Who's Who in Poetry 2006, Best Poems and Poets 2004, Best Poems and Poets 2002, Words Gone Two Soon, Green Dragon and Timbila. He is also co-author of My Dad: By South African sons, an autobiographical novel about father and son relationships. Born in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu Natal on 6 September 1966, Abdul Milazi became a newspaper editor aged 22. He is former deputy editor of GQ magazine (South Africa), senior editor of Financial Mail, Trade and industry editor of Business Day, Editor-in-Chief of Tribute magazine and currently Associate Editor of Sunday Times. He lives in Johannesburg and runs his popular poetry sessions under the Mo Faya Poetry banner. He is also a regular performer in corporate functions. |
