Keabetswe Modimoeng’s ProfileKeabetswe was born in Mafikeng (North West) during the 80’s.Having dominantly spent the first part of his childhood in a rural and farming environment, he fell in love with his roots and that was the beginning of his cultural activism with poetry as the driving force.
Throughout his schooling days he participated in cultural events as well as church cultural activities. He was then instrumental in the formation of Kgotla ya Bararabolodi (a poetry group) in 2002.
In 2003 during his LRC Presidential year, he formed part of a delegation that represented
St Mary’s High School on a Cultural exchange programme in Vienna, Austria.
He later traveled to Botswana and Swaziland.
In 2005 Kea was featured on Hip Hop Pantsula’s YBA 2 NW album (track 14- 2mmogo).
During his full time schooling days at the Tshwane University if Technology, he was at the forefront of the “cultural revolution” as he facilitated various cultural projects and participated in Poetry sessions and social cultural debates. He was the program director at the 2006 Cultural awareness event in support of the disabled students.
Under the mentorship of amongst others Dr Otsile Ntsoane and the “poet maestro”
Lefifi Tladi, his artistic consciousness gained momentum. He was then able to complete the preparation of his manuscript called MADUO a setswana word for “rewards”.Maduo is also the name of his late Great grandfather who was a close relative to the royal family of Bakgatla ba ba Ntwaana.
Kea recorded a piece called “a re se itebale” which is on Doughlas Mosadi’s House mix released in May 2007.
He also collaborated with Mo'lemi on his album (Amantsi) on a track called Leuba.
In due course MADUO collection (his poetry book and CD) will be released.
