»I am the new man«

by N.T. Muchemwa, March 21, 2011

I am the new man, emancipated
from the grip of my past,
I am the new man,
I am a prisoner of hope.

I embrace dignity, great expectations and new beginnings.
My past is behind me,
miles in the distance.
I am seduced by the future,
as I close the gaping hole into my past.

I am the new man, I have a fresh mind set,
Yes, I have come of age.
Like wine I have matured with time.
My mad house now a happy home.
My countenance is brighter,
simply because I am the new man.

I have noble passions,
I have honorable desires.
No more vice ,no more debauchery.
With self control and empathy,
I cherish who I have become
Indeed I am the new man.
