»Living my life in dreams«

by Zandile Mboneni, August 14, 2014

I have lived my life in dreams;
Colourful plains of endless rolling hills,
Passion driven, with endless hope.

I have lived my life in dreams;
Calming seas, blue waters,
The endless sky filled with stars.

I have lived my life in dreams;
Music, love, cries, and strength,
Babies, bees, butterflies, birds,
Chatter, laughter and...

I have lived my life in dreams
Of darkness and pain, endless retching pain.
Heart broken a million times, yet to mend and love
Again, again, again.

And these blue skies of grey,
The bleeding heart,
The tearful eyes that sometimes smile with sadness,
As I have lived my dreams of my imprisoned heart.

»Epilogue to the dance«

The mirror reflects beauty, a smile, a tear. / I laugh as I stare at my reflection, "Girl you've come so far." / I brush away the tear, before it can mess up my makeup. / The memories come flooding back, all those tears, the scars, my esteem broken to pieces. / I choke up, "damn, breathe girl, this is a  sign in to read more »
